This building, now called Vivekanandar Illam was initially called Ice House. Even today the bus stop is called Ice House Stop. It was here that the Ice sent from Boston, USA by ship was stored in Madras. It was big business before refrigeration killed it.
I thought it was because Vivekananda went to Boston for a conference. Or was that Chicago ? :P
